Time to go. The Butterfly Effect

In fact, there is no difference in leaving home for a long journey like the Silk Road or just leaving for work. One just steps into the car, starts the engine, and off you go. In the case of work, at the end of the day, you take the same road in the opposite direction. Whereas with an endeavor like this, there’s no real way back. It’s just one big loop that – hopefully – brings you back to your starting point. One could say that, having an estimated 25,000 kms ahead sounds really daunting. But, in fact, that’s almost the distance I would cover in a similar amount of time for work. With this idea in mind, the Silk Route doesn’t seem so far.

There’s an idea that intrigues me more than the mere fact of leaving home for a journey like this. It’s the Butterfly Effect. The simple act of leaving at a particular day and a particular time, and all the things to come as a result of this initial decision. If we would have left the day before, or the day after, for sure this would lead to different events in the course of the entire journey yet to come. With only one day difference, the weather would generally be the same but we would certainly meet different people as a consequence of taking different breaks at different places and moments.

At the very moment of leaving home, along our estimated route other people are making their own decisions, unconsciously obeying or adapting to events they don’t control themselves. Both lines of events to some extent bearing the promise that we could, would or even will meet at a certain point, have a small discussion, will help or curse each other, will walk, drink or eat together, will grant each other a glance in the eyes for a second or two, or will just pass by without even knowing about each other’s existence.

Of course, exactly the same principle applies while staying at home. But, leaving on a big journey makes one more aware about a phenomenon like the Butterfly Effect. Maybe, the latter is the main reason why we wanted to leave for a somewhat longer period. To become more aware. To sharpen our senses. To gain a physical and mental reset.

Becoming truly aware of the world around us and that it is part of us and that we are part of it makes us at the same time perceive the eternity of time and its fleetingness, and it is not an easy thing to do !!!

I really appreciate your lyrics and I wanted to show it to you,
